How to export Discord DMs

Yes. Discord itself has no DM export button, and its data package only contains the messages you sent, so a DM from it shows half the conversation.    Install DiscordSuite from the Chrome Web Store.

   Open discord.com in Chrome and sign in.

   In the left sidebar, click Direct Messages, then the conversation.

   Click the DiscordSuite icon. The popup shows "Direct message".

   Pick a format: HTML to read, Excel or CSV for spreadsheets, JSON for data, TXT for a log.

   Optional: set From and To dates (UTC), or choose the first or last N messages.

   Click Export and save the file.

Open the group DM and follow the same steps. The file is named after the people in the group.

Leave the dates empty to export from the first message. The free plan has a message limit per export. For long DMs, export in date windows, or use Chat Exporter (or All tools) for unlimited messages.

Both people's messages, names, avatars, timestamps, Discord formatting, replies, attachments, embeds, stickers, polls, reactions and edits. Files are labeled "Direct Messages" and named after the people in the conversation. Attachments appear as links. With Chat Exporter (or All tools), you can pack them with the export in one ZIP, or save only the photos and files with Media Downloader.

DiscordSuite can't recover deleted messages or export DMs you no longer have access to. It runs in Chrome on a computer, not in the Discord desktop or mobile app.
